Materials for Footwear Adhesive Formulation
Thickeners for footwear adhesives
Gaia-PUM 604
Product Description: is a non-ionic, hydrophobically modified ethylene oxide urethane (HEUR), pseudoplastic thickener (rheological modifier) designed to provide excellent rheological control and performance in water based systems: outstanding thickening efficiency in the medium shear viscosity region, significantly increase workability and storage stability of the formulation, good colorant stability, excellent leveling and anti-sagging, and a broad application pH range . It has ultra low odor, and does NOT contain APEO, tin, or organic amine neutralizers.
Uses: as thickener in water based systems which require storage stability and both good leveling and good anti-sagging. It is ideal for use in PUD based adhesives for athletic shoes and other footwear manufacturing, particularly suitable for shoe adhesives based on Gaia PUD.

Gaia PUM 604 is a free flow liquid. It can be added undiluted or pre-diluted with water (1:2; or 1:4), during any stage of the formulation process. The actual amount required varies with polymers and formulation, and should be based on rheological control profile required for a particular system, normally to be determined by conducting laboratory tests.
Stability: stable under recommended storage conditions.
Storage Condition: store in closed original container in cool (5 to 35oC) and well ventilation areas away from direct sunlight. Do not freeze the product. Do not leave the product uncovered for extended periods of time; immediately tightly close the cap after each material transfer. When stored properly, the resin has a shelf life of at least 12 months from the date of manufacture.
Packing: 20 kg in plastic pails, 200 kg in open plastic drum packed inside with 2 liners of HDPE plastic bags.
